Drop the curtain; this show's over:
Some play of misery, unforeseen, uninvited.
The ending continues to drag on,
But the audience no longer watches.
The surprise ending is superfluous
For there is no one left to surprise.
Their minds wander to a land far away
A place that we don't recognize
Where the sun shines and where we can dream
Of lives more idyllic and forgiving.
