Weekend recap
Feb. 20th, 2005 07:09 pmThis will be a long post.

After having dinner at Bo's Bar and Grill (good food, tad pricey, mediocre waitress - she seemed to interact with other customers a lot better than with us), Connie and Jon dropped me off back at my place. However...
...my roommates had their friends over and were watching some loud action movie and enjoying some beer, so I lock myself into my room and turn up the music. After they finished the movie, they move on to the rum and tequila and the dance music and for a little while it sounded just like a Neighbours from Hell event but in my own apartment!!! I thought my roomies had acknowledged to me that they would try to keep the drinking-for-parties out of the apartment for me.
So I'm at my computer complaining about this to
forgottenlord, when he suggests that maybe I should go to his place again. Now, seeing as it was around 10:30, I really didn't think it would be a good idea since I wouldn't get to stay too long anyway. He suggested my staying over for the night but I turned it down; I still think it'd be too awkward. We debated a while, and the roommates and their friends went out, and then he won (he did a list of 'reasons for' and 'reasons against,' but in the end, in his words, "the reason against just got its ass kicked") and I packed my things to go over there.
It's just past 11:30 now, and on the way down HUB to get to the exit to go outside, I walk by another apartment which was holding a huge party. Sigh. And too bad most people would forgive them for violating noise regulations since most people have already gone home for reading week, but if I were in the unfortunate situation of living around them, I would have reported them anyway.
Jon from Country Crusade (not ASK/Bible study Jon) had again just gotten off his shift doing the checkpoint at Lister (which is up on Thursday-Saturday nights only) and as I walked in the door he was like, "you're here again!?!?!??!" since I was there the night before too after my exam, remember? ...
Whatever.
On the way up in the elevator the car stopped at 5M for unknown reason; I almost wanted to faint from the permeating odour of C2H5OH that came in within those 10 seconds of the elevator door being open.
Explanation about 5M: Some of the floor members were holding a 6-hour live music concert/party extravaganza in honour of someone who decided to get himself evicted for the sake of performing a stunt to put on his floor's Ivanhoe (floor pride week) video the week before. I don't know how they managed to get just the right number of instrumentalists on that floor to get a band together, but as far as
forgottenlord and I were concerned, the band members were probably the most sober people left by the end of the thing.
It was really really quiet on 6M, there were probably only about 10 people left there, but the common area/lounge was kinda trashed, like posters torn off the walls and everything...
Eventually, although I still felt REALLY REALLY awkward about this, he set up his sheets and blankets on the floor and we tried to fall asleep next to each other, while the party continued downstairs...
...this makes a nice segue into our next day:

forgottenlord seemed to wake a little from his sleep and I told him what time it was, took a walk around the lounge, then went back to bed. (
forgottenlord, there was a girl with long blonde hair who came out from your wing and went down the stairs just as I was coming back in, do you know who this might be?)
When we woke (properly) at 9:50, he recalled several dreams, and he didn't believe me when I told him that the dream about waking at 4:45 wasn't a dream at all. I had to get to my physics review at 11:30 so he bought us breakfast at the Marina downstairs. I gobbled that up and he walked me to my class, and we waved each other our sad goodbyes, since we wouldn't be seeing each other for a while.
I almost fell asleep in my review class. I feel like I'm chronically tired and will fall asleep anywhere now.
He took the 4pm Red Arrow coach home, while I took the 6pm Greyhound coach. The bus was rather empty, and quite quiet except for the occasional phone call, and the four-hour discussion in Hindi. I dozed off for a little while during the ride, drew this, and put up with the two Hindu ladies who wouldn't stop talking for the entire ride, even during the washroom break, in the washroom.
It was nice to be home, though. I banged around with my sister on the piano a bit, and
forgottenlord phoned me. I'm trying to get him and my next-door neighbour to come over on Monday or Tuesday night so we can hang out.
(BTW dear, here's a quick scan of those grad photo proofs from last year, since you wanted to see them)
A strange, strange awkward weekend must continue with a strange, strange awkward sleep...

Woke up at 11am, went out for lunch with my dad and my sister and dropped off a roll of film at Wal-Mart. There aren't really any pictures of anything that you haven't seen before, and I need to ask
forgottenlord for his permission to post the pics of him in his dorm room before I do so.
Lied to my sister about how much I like him ("I'm just warning you right now that he seems to like me a LOT but I just like him as a friend").
I bought a new watchstrap for my watch, and a couple of packages of Pirates of the Spanish Main game pieces - I couldn't resist the window display at the games store. I think that once I get back to Edmonton I'll get a few more packages from Wizard's Comics since they do stock them there and I think I should get enough pieces so that at least I can have a full two-player game with someone. People in university love strategy games.
Then I went to watch Sideways with my sister (since it's rated 18A and she couldn't get in herself). It was really strange and okay, it didn't strike me as particularly interesting.
That's about all, evenings are kind of boring, and as soon as my sister gets off the phone I think I'll call
forgottenlord.

Maybe someday I could be free again, free to share what I know of myself without fear.Despite this passage having obvious seemingly Christian connotations relating to the stuff we read about at Bible study (Mark 4 - the stuff about seeds and accepting God), it wasn't written to be intended that way. An explanation will shortly follow.
Maybe someday I will know unconditional trust -- without limit, without end, an eternal devotion to something so vast and unimaginable that would completely overwhelm me with awe.

Amazing how much can happen in ten days.Sometime around 4:45 I awoke, and the first thought that went through my head was "WTF am I?"
In your embrace I feel a greater sense of being, a sense of completeness, a sense of belonging. Despite the madness going on beneath us, I felt more in control of myself and my [drunk-people] radar. Even sleep felt more restful knowing you were beside me...

Date: 2005-02-20 08:22 pm (UTC)Anyways - you've already posted my picture online so...I really couldn't care anymore (I'm more protective of my image being online than any of my actual stuff...)
You're waiting for your sister to get off the phone, I'm waiting for my mom to get off the phone, could be interesting to see which of them gets off first. May be try calling my cell (reception seems to have improved on the upper floor of my house).
