[This is about what has been bothering me for the last several weeks. Perhaps even the whole two months I've been here. Something or other related to this.]
I have witnessed your custom and I find it much appaling that you would give so much for so little in benefit in return. You give up your time (or sense thereof), your health, your sanity and clarity of mind, your money, and years of your life for a sliver of your lifespan of silliness and oblivion.
When you partake in such pleasures you only have so much money with you. Do you ever wonder why it is so expensive at the establishments? I hazard a guess -- that they have a social responsibility to promote a responsible behaviour by limiting how much your money can buy. But their patrons, whose minds are for the moment completely single tracked, want to drink more for their money. Hence the idea of predrinking before entering the establishment.
You wish to get more for your money, but a sideeffect is that predrinking is quite intense, usually straight shots or even just out of the bottle, consuming more in less time to hasten the setting in of psychological and physical effects.
You effectively defeat the purpose of this regulatory pressure through pricing by this. What is worse is that you no longer are able to confine your drunken antics to a room and instead damage our reputation as mature adults by walking there or walking home or getting onto a bus and sitting [illegible] [blasted] up this way.
By all this you miss the most important virtues in life - moderation and temperance. We must know when to stop, while we are of clear and sound mind; and we must know also when it is that others have taken too much.
