Too tired today and spent time actually socializing with my roommates at dinner, plus let computer get a bit too hot and so it's uncomfortable to type. Gonna do point form.

* Mostly paperwork and briefing - boss treated us to lunch (Note to self: hole-punch handouts and put into work binder, then keep work binder at work)
* I like how the place is family friendly, so there is explicitly no cussing allowed anywhere. This usually also puts a plug on the really annoying sexist stuff like from the boys at Wal-Mart in that other year (in hindsight it was grounds for harassment complaints anyway)
* We're contractors, so we have to enter through the contractor door at the back, which is totally like another minute or two of walking. The obligatory alarm on this door (which is normally an emergency exit) is super-loud and I feel like I've been slightly deafened by it
* Also because we're contractors, no discounts for food or buying stuff. I like to think that we're "classier", but way more underpaid than the contracted tradesmen. Classiness doesn't pay!! :(
* Manual time-charting
* Bright orange/yellow safety vest
* Booked 3. June off for Convocation
* I could buy lunch every day or whenever I want to, but I'd probably get sick of meatballs and salmon. The vegetarian pasta is only $1.99 so I could go for some of that, or $0.50 hot dogs
* Got to borrow a couple of pairs of IKEA cargo pants - tired but should sew them to right length before I go to bed tonight, else wear my own jeans tomorrow
* The store is renovating everything on the top floor (the showroom) except for kitchens so I don't have to build cabinets
* It seems like we're building stuff both behind the scenes and directly on the showroom floor, but the latter will only start once the tradesmen finish actually putting the new space together. They're already behind schedule. Some regular IKEA employees are building stuff too.
* IKEA toolkits! Includes both FIXA kits sans saw and pencils, and some other stuff including a couple of packs of PRAKTISK stickies, roll of masking tape, pen, and a little notebook. Electric drill is in its own case.
* Feet totally almost gave way (in regular shoes) after slogging up 4 flights of stairs coming out of the LRT station - I should remember to keep my work boots at work and change into them when I come in else I would be really slogging
* I'm a bit of a Luddite and I don't like electric drills, so I don't care that it's slower for now but I'm going to do as much by hand as possible first until I'm comfortable with using the drill for putting stuff up onto walls
* My coworkers are rather quiet and never seem to have any noticeable reaction to anything, which is bugging me. They didn't talk very much at lunch either.
* Bus is really crowded when it picks me up at IKEA, but everybody gets off at Century or Southgate
