kyrasantaeA "translation" in the style of Ezra Pound (that is, authored in near-complete ignorance of the meaning of the original text), of TH's "Hiljaisen talven lapsi".
You know what, this is even more imaginative than Ezra Pound because at least Pound had notes to work from. I only have vague recollections of the meanings of random words in the song. Now, I have seen the actual translation before, but I'm too terrified to look it up again.
Every snowy evening, when I step outside
I follow my own footsteps left on the frozen tide
At dusk, when I return, the coldness still abides
And praying for the sunlight to quickly come on by.
The sea goes on, its waves unending
The winter's child walks on, unbending
Traveling alone, this heart attending
