I just slapped together a couple of clips of me singing:

  1. A couple of verses from a Finnish Christmas song (you may have heard this song before from here, which was recorded a couple of Christmases ago)
  2. A couple of verses from the song in question in the previous post
In both of these I do my normal vibrato in the first verse, then attempt to take it out in the second. I'm not striving to project my voice in these clips, and my voice is somewhat hoarse from crying and other crap, but you'll notice that in the second verses, the singing is quite flat and unimpressive and lacks energy and vibrato sometimes slips back in.

I'll also mention that I found it easier to take it out when the music is mid-range - at either extreme (high or low) it is extremely difficult to produce any sound without throwing in at least a slight bit of it. This, I'm probably correct in assuming, can be changed with practice, however, that's not in my interests at the moment. The song in question is definitely in the lower part of my range.

Other installments:
  1. So, uh, this vibrato thing?
  2. In light of being POed
  3. The continuing drama... (of course)
  4. It's times like these...
  5. Resolution
  6. Denouement
