Her pale face watched hungrily
Her dark eyes stalked silently
Her thin fingers trembled serpentine
Trailing her prey in the night
The alleyway cowered in the darkness
The shadows crept up the graffiti-stained walls calling out their warnings
     He heard steps behind him
          And stopped
     She darted behind a shadow
          Becoming the shadow
          And softly spoke his name
Only fools come here at night.
     He turned, searching
          for the voice
     She smiled, kissing
          her finely honed blade.
The shadow flickered
The shadow lashed out
Silence was broken by the cry, tumbling echoes into the unknown.
Silence was broken by the thunder, cackling in immortal approval.
The nectar of life returned to the earth, sickly sweetness flowing crimson.
The nectar of life returned to the earth, infernal baptism pouring from the heavens.

It must be the date -- what else can explain this darkness?

I know no reason for this madness. I feel completely drained of life-essence. Like half-dead, but stirring to replace it, the inner void commanding me to rape* the souls of the living. It commands -- I cannot obey. To obey is to die a sorry death, sentenced by those who do not know my reason. To disobey is to lie in torment, waiting for something to save me.

*archaic definition ["to take away by force"]. Possibly the modern one too, but that'd be my twisted male side of me speaking.
