Hong Kong [journal]
Jul. 21st, 2004 08:40 pmMy book's all warped from the humidity in Hong Kong. Even though it's much more humid here, it's raining, so it's cooler. We're staying on the top floor (21st storey) of an apartment building and the flat is very small. My grandma lives here (she's 90+) with my uncle and aunt who take care of her.
It is not a continuous rain. Occasionally there are gusts of wind and rain pours sporadically for a few minutes at a time. My girl cousins are here for dinner and both of them are shorter than me despite the fact that they are several years older.
It's definitely good to be alive but as days go by and the end draws nearer I know it'll be very soon after I return to a familiar place that I will have to leave it again for a long time. I don't think I'll be able to live here, right now, for very long. I can only think of sleep, and sleep for as long as I can, for the night may be so troubling, but the night my only hope.
