Small Verse-things from UF
Jun. 11th, 2007 07:07 pmdarn this impulsive but deliberate life of mine!
Promises made and lost entangle
Too much for this mind to handle!
I hold here in my hands an object
I knew I'd buy, but will not inspect
Nor face, nor hear, nor ever open
Until I bear the dream I'm hoping
Will take me to where I long to be.
Then why now, if it'll wait there for me?
Because you tell me that I must know this work;
A duty of any fan, I'll admit,
Though the names are sorely tempting - this will hurt:
To this I know I won't submit.
For now, anyway.
*virtual brain explosion*
=====
Requiem for a Brain
How long must it be injust here
Until it has been long enough?
Rememb'ring how you did protest,
There's more to you than meets the eye.
Am I naught but a silent name
Ne'er whispered until turned to dust?
How puzzled, angered, embittered
And brokenhearted, here I lie.
I'm willing to admit defeat
If by doing so I find out
What on earth did you want of me
That you will not tell me about?
=====
06/13
When brightest day is as dark as night
And warmest light the cold of winter
I long for your embrace
But you're never here...
...so I keep on waiting
For you
=====
06/18
I grieve now not for the dead
But for one who still walks this earth,
Drew lines around me, and took a step back.
And every day I know he lives,
I see in mirrors, and walk the same halls,
Yet vanishing into the crowd
(As I have vanished from that selfsame place)
To unknown spaces and secrets.
Why will you not know what you've done to me?
Promises made and lost entangle
Too much for this mind to handle!
I hold here in my hands an object
I knew I'd buy, but will not inspect
Nor face, nor hear, nor ever open
Until I bear the dream I'm hoping
Will take me to where I long to be.
