Okay, okay, I'm stopping.

Since "BitchFight II: More BitchFighting!" happened over on the other (NW) board, I'm no longer making these things to share with people there. Elsewhere, sure. Just not over there, because CLEARLY they see in me nothing noble, nor, in fact, nothing beneficial from the patience I have thus far exhibited in NOT running off to join the circus make music a priority over engineering.

So what if it confines me to singing in the shower for a few more years?

I'm not available to make any recordings next month anyway, so I want "Strange Secret Covert Hobby" so be the "June/July 2006" compilation.

Since it's the last day of July, I put together a few last things.
  • Firstly: Further revision of Ghost Love Score - I found the beginning entry on the old version was far far far too weak so I redid it, plus some other parts.

  • Secondly: VERY minor update to The Human Equation medley - just one small place where the harmony line moved late; it was irritating me so much I fixed it.

  • Finally: Something completely new - a version of Dark Chest of Wonders that doesn't sound like I'm about to explode. At first I thought that I was having a hard time relaxing to do the verses, only to get to the bridge-part-of-doom and WHAM! it got worse with no way out (esp. the second part of it). I just took the best I had.

James's instrumental is confusing as hell, too. I actually had to count time on the last chorus. Maybe he was trying too hard to do the orchestra part or maybe he left it unfinished (it's missing a choral part during the bit before the guitar solo thingy in the middle). I'm only about 75% sure that the last chorus doesn't have a harmony line, but I hate Tarja too much to check, so I pulled the neat little doubling trick (which happened by accident when I forgot to mute out an earlier take of that part while reviewing the whole thing and I liked it).

I also managed to make the harmonies subtle, like they should be :)

    Go vibrato!
I've also used up a LOT of my webspace account for this stuff, so I've started to delete some old things that I'm sure no one cares about anymore. This removed stuff is mostly stuff that's not on the inventory list for various reasons (usually 'cause they were crap). If you find a broken link and it's not something new (or if it's an older version of something with a better revised version), don't freak out.

[livejournal.com profile] voxwoman, if you're reading this, I really don't mind if you 'stole' some of my writing for your songs; as long as you credit me (artists' name "Tuuli Mustasydän") for it and that I get a brief look-over if you want to change stuff, I'm more than happy to see my words made into your songs :)

I chose Engineering over music 30 years ago. I have since played many interesting venues only possible due to the money I made doing engineering.

Well, I haven't really been writing anything these days; mostly I've been sequencing stuff to use on my Big Concert on Saturday - my first time out as a solo act. (yuck - I'd much rather play with people, but venues do NOT want to pay the band, so they won't travel for free, and I don't blame them, and I can't afford to pay 500 dollars to perform in front of a hundred people or so). I was just skimming LJ before shutting down for the rest of the week, and saw my name. :)

I, too, took the engineering path instead of the music path. I don't know how things would have worked out otherwise, but there probably would have been no way for me to have purchased the close to 30,000 dollars worth of equipment and software (and self-producing 2 CDs) without the "day job".

But if/when I get inspired by your words, I'll let you know before I record a single note. :-D
