No point in having a paid account just to use the extra userpics.

Besides, I wanted to use a layout that was sufficiently translated into Finnish, but also with the userpic beside posts. Not that I have a *lot* of userpics, but sometimes I deviate from my default one and there's no point in doing that if people don't ever end up seeing it!

This layout seems to load a significant bit slower, though. Fixed by turning off mini-calendar.

Now if only I had a credit card so I'd only have to pay $20US every year instead of mailing a $25US money order each time to get this renewed...I'm on a gift subscription that expires in October, you see...

You might check with your bank..

A lot of them now days issue visa check cards that work like a visa everywhere you want to be. Instead of having an actual credit line though, your card is backed by your checking account.

I find the visa check card more advantagous than an actual credit card. I can't spend moeny I don't have yet so even though I can go comeptlely broke, I can't go into the negatives (well, it's possible, but you have to be planning it and watching carefully the posting dates for purchases). Since it's technically a VISA credit card, I can use it anywhere you can use a regular VISA credit card. Since the money is taken out of my checking account, there is no interest. Since it's technically a VISA credit card, it helps build your credit :)

It's like the goodness of a checkbook and credit card without the evilness of having to write on the thing or pay interest rates & possible late fees :D

Parents don't want me having a credit card until I have a full-time job ;-) - I'm also not sure if they have those in Canada, I haven't heard of any of my friends having one.

(Oh my gosh. I had no idea the comment form was in Finnish too. Now which button am I supposed to press?)

This one is called "Boxer", but I have a suspicion it may be paid-accounts only. In either case, I think it was the one at the top of the page with all the premade layout previews on it.

Well ...

First of all: Thanks for finally adding me to your friends list. ;-p

As for that paid account stuff: I don't know all the possibilities yet - the nicest thing is, that right now I'm seeing my own design as I'm typing this reply here. I'm sure I'll figure out, what I can and will do with the rest of the features.

Now, since I somehow had problems setting up a paypal account, I asked chaotic to give me a paid account as a gift and I sent her the money via money order, which seems easier and saver to me than sending a money order to the U.S.. I think, that the way I chose is still convenient enough. ;-p Thanks btw to chaotic! ^_^

Oh, and: Nice design you chose! ;-)

Well, for myself, to send a money order to LJ in the US and to do the same thing to someone else, say, in the US wouldn't be a difference :-P Unless I sent Canadian currency to someone here in Canada. In that case, I'd probably end up asking [livejournal.com profile] siromygod (she has a paid account, I don't know if she pays for it herself with her CC or not) because I actually sometimes run into her when she's at work when I come home for holidays. :-)

Hmmm...okay, so the first button is 'post', the second is 'preview', and the checkbox is (english) 'spellcheck and preview'...

Except on the quick-reply (the first) screen, where the second button is "more options"...

Just how did you manage to get a "More Options" button on a quick reply screen? I would have liked to set a link to chaotic_lady's LJ, but all I get are the "Post Comment" and "Preview" buttons. So, how did you do that with the link to siromygod's LJ?

If you have the 'post comment' and 'preview' buttons you are already on the 'more options' screen. The quick reply screen is primarily the one without the radio buttons to choose between posting anonymously or with a login.

As for a link to someone else, It's really easy! Just use < lj user=Username > (without the extra space between the angle brackets) and it'll show up as a link like that :)
