More piano goodness
Apr. 4th, 2006 04:15 pmThree things in an hour:
The only one of these actually played with sheet music in front of me is Sleeping Sun; I have a page with chord symbols for KTT* and the rest is by ear so melodic messups were frequent and it took me forever to do a decent take; Faraway was the first song I learned to play entirely by ear (no visual aids) and so the arrangement is a little primitive, but it's effective.
I want to put these on my demo as 'bonus' tracks.
As for vocal stuff, I'm leaning towards "Nemo," "Rakkaus on lumivalkoinen," and either a new recording of "Sininen uni" or an a cappella recording of custom lyrics for "Away." Heck, I'll put more than enough songs on my disc, it's just a matter of which three to highlight.
*In theory I could have just grabbed my NW-songbook, which would give me the melody, but the chord symbols there are a little different (they're guitar chords, which I can't interpret quite as intuitively on the fly), and I wanted to play it in the key that I had originally worked out the song by ear on (E/B minor instead of D/A minor) because I felt more comfortable in it.
- "Sleeping Sun" (3.3MB) - a new version
- "Faraway" (Apocalyptica) (4.5MB)- gah, haven't really played this for a while
- "Kuolema tekee taiteilijan" (3.3MB) - our perennial favourite ;)
