Pretentiousness (fandom considerations)
Mar. 29th, 2006 11:09 amWhat shall I write in my introductory letter? I'm thinking of doing it up in calligraphy dissimilar (i.e. more italic, less gothic) to this (I know the Latin is completely wrong, and if you like the calligraphic style you'll find it as 'Benegraphic,' a free fontface based on this sample.) at risk of looking a bit pretentious.
Of course, I'll leave out the NW-worship bits, but what sort of information do you think they'd want to know about me? Name, age, musical background, what else? (And yes, I'll be requesting to be called by a stage name, I think. Tuuli Mustasydän? Or should I think of something less pretentious?)
I'm also thinking about the other elements of my submission package. I'd probably make a nice sleeve for my demo CD using one of my drawings (e.g. this because scanned ink drawings print much better than pencil drawings). Again, I might look pretentious.
As for photos of myself, here's some thoughts on the matter. (Yes, the first bit of this post is drawn from that thread.)
How pretentious do I get? How much fandom do I show before it goes overboard?
Bonus: How many times do I use the word 'pretentious' in this post?
