River of Rambling III [journal]
Jun. 19th, 2005 12:11 amIf you're hiding half of yourself because it's not societally acceptable, of course the visible part of you feels incomplete -- because it is! You are incomplete without that suppressed part!
But what can we do, there's only so much of ourselves and we can't add to it without taking something else away.

Sometimes there really are situations where "I can" and "I cannot" are both not honest answers, and the only honest answer is "I don't know." This is so in cases where even willpower has done you no good and knowing that you must search for other, more synthetic ways to accomplish your goal.
=
Imagine a void...that's where I'll be.
=
Imagine a shepherd without a herd.
Imagine a flashlight without batteries.
Imagine a paper with a "D" grade.
Imagine an answer that doesn't quite address the question.
=
To believe that there is still something left for me out there isn't just hopeful, it's true. To believe that there is still something that I could stand doing for more than a week, however, is folly.
And do not believe that I have forgotten my cause. It is still strong with me, and stronger still because I know how much the evil works of the land beyond the gates of hell will try to devour me.
=
There are so many words on the tip of my tongue that I know it must be enough for another book, but I don't know what these words are!
If you do evil for the cause of good, what are you?
=
It all really is just a mystery to me.
Nothing works, nothing helps, nothing satiates my desires.
But what can we do, there's only so much of ourselves and we can't add to it without taking something else away.

Date: 2005-06-19 11:32 am (UTC)Justification of mean justifying ends or end justifying means is up to the individual to decide (when the law does not).
In the case of Antonuk, the ends did justify the means (though arguably, the means justify themselves).
In other scenarios.... it does not.
