[05:48:30 PM] Sietse (Newton S): And I found out about your aversion to drinking.
[05:49:23 PM] Sietse (Newton S): And around the start of this semester, I thought: Why don't I just give up drinking altogether? I don't really need it, do I?
[05:50:13 PM] Sietse (Newton S): I have a very ascetic streak: I quite enjoy going without things, if they're not too tempting.

[06:05:06 PM] Sietse (Newton S): Tough one. They don't drink to "facilitate socialising"; but they do think that getting together with friends is a good occasion to have a drink together. I.e. drink doesn't facilitate socialising, in the same way that a packet of crisps does not facilitate socialising.
