On an airplane (part 1) [journal]
Jul. 14th, 2004 04:30 pmI haven't really slept since 1:45 this morning -- woke again from the snoring. But this time I could not just find it simple enough to bail out to the couch and sleep again. I think that on something like this imminent departure, the eerie silence of the night brings me to gentle tears for fears I hardly know. For one, my finger, which is still tingly-numb. For another, it is the separation that I have chosen for the future. Mom woke from my weeping and we sat on the couch and talked for hours. By the time we were done it was 4:45 and the sun was just about to rise. I lay down on the couch and tried to sleep; every time I took a peek it was a bit brighter outside and the crows began to caw.
I drifted for a little, and dreamt of shopping-like things, then awoke again at 6:45 when my sister threw a cushion at me. I haven't slept since (it's 16:10 Vancouver time and I'm on a plane to Tokyo now). I may be close to deathly tired but I don't really want to sleep. And they're showing bad movies on this flight. And we go to a hot spring tonight but I can't go because I'm having my time of the month. :( [Note: turns out that was a misinterpretation on my part. There wasn't one this day.] Maybe I can dip in the other one in a few days. [Note: I did.]
I know it's early tomorrow morning in Japan already, but I'll break this into another entry once we get there.
There's no extra cost to have liquor with our meals on here but I think one has to be 21 to drink :(. (Had a sip of Dad's red wine. Eew.)
Slowly they are now closing the windows so everyone can sleep.
There was a white guy at the airport who was speaking fluent Japanese to all the Japanese people who were checking in. We thought he was super-cool.
