(prequel to A Desperate Rain)
Wide awake,
I stare into a fading light
I'm in no state
To call away the night
Cut through this curtain
Sheltering truth from lie!
And watch through the window
As the silent man goes by!
Silent to my eyes
Silent to my ears
Silent to the heart and mind
And silent to the hollow years.
I curse your silence!
Speak, or maybe
There will be a last time...
I can smell
The bitter scent of darkened steel
and I know well
That none of this is real
For inside my head,
I'm laying in bed
Waiting for sleep to come:
"I'll save this for the rain..."
Wide awake,
I stare into a fading light
I'm in no state
To call away the night
Cut through this curtain
Sheltering truth from lie!
And watch through the window
As the silent man goes by!
Silent to my eyes
Silent to my ears
Silent to the heart and mind
And silent to the hollow years.
I curse your silence!
Speak, or maybe
There will be a last time...
I can smell
The bitter scent of darkened steel
and I know well
That none of this is real
For inside my head,
I'm laying in bed
Waiting for sleep to come:
"I'll save this for the rain..."
