I was bashing out Bless the Child on the piano again today while actually attempting to do the correct rhythm in the left along with the right and all that...

...I guess I wasn't relaxed enough with my shoulders and elbows down (proper posture) and now my left wrist hurts as if I had just sat on my hand and then yanked my arm upwards or something. It's the pain I sometimes get at night in my wrists, but a hundred times worse. There's a compression bandage on it now. The wrist, I mean.

Damn carpal tunnel!

Yeah, okay, I see what TH means by 'cramping' now, except I probably get it much worse than him :P

In related news, I just bought "Wondrous Strange," a biography of Glenn Gould. Gould is such a character - he's legendary for his humming, his mental problems (and prescription drug use), and of course, his piano playing :)

This is a medley of some of my favorite parts from Ayreon's "The Human Equation." I'm singing the parts of six different people (2 female, 4 male; you can kind of hear them in the backing track, and it's almost impossible to sing over Arjen's voice in the second song), and I tried to make them all somewhat distinct. I totally can't do the original singers justice. :)

I did the ending first and worked backwards, so I sound a little tired at the beginning. I reconstructed harmony lines from what I could hear and some improvising.

The harsh voice in the third song (originally Magnus Ekwall's part) is probably as raw as I can sing (which is not very much). I think I do Eric Clayton's part (the lower, darker voice in the first and third songs) best :)

(Yeah, I really like the first song, that's why it takes up half of the medley :P - it was the most difficult too.)

Back in high school, when DK#2 found out that I liked the song, he gave me a photocopy of a piano version of the song '15 Miljoen Mensen' (it was one of the songs he could play, although he claimed he could not read music). Unfortunately, it was photocopied onto thermal paper, and is quickly fading. Fortunately, it had been stored in a dark folder and the notes are still readable.

I've input the music into my notation software to preserve it. Even most of the formatting. There are a couple of places where there is a discolouration from the photocopying and whatever was there is illegible; I've put square brackets in these places.

Here we are.
