- I passed my physics midterm. The average was in the 55% sort of range. I was in the 60% sort of range. Felt like a blonde because the witty quips and trivia I put on the pages was all wrong and my grader was having some fun counter-exampling them.

- Failed calculus midterm. Prof keeps talking about how the session average was 65% and that even "if you have 48% you should still be able to pass the course." But I don't have 48%. That's the problem. And it *was* (sum 2 -> infinity)1/(n²-1). I don't know why but I swear I was seeing a plus sign when I was writing that exam. A paper with (x²-1) = (x+1)(x-1) on it to accompany the arctan(x) paper will go up on the back of my door very soon.

- Last night I started to whittle at the stick I picked up a few days ago. I took the bark off yesterday and today I had to enlist the help of my Marttiini knife to take the little bits of knots off, which caused a bit of a small scratch on the back of the blade :( Oh well. But yes, it is teh sharpness and it pwns joo :P

I phoned my parents. My mom picked up the phone and she said they'll be visiting on the 27th (Easter Sunday). For the preferential ranking of choices for next year, she suggests that I pick four that I'd like, rank them 1-4 for co-op, then 5-8 for traditional. I'm thinking Materials, Electrical (hey you never know), Chemical, then either Civil or Environmental (leaning towards EnvE right now, I'm sure I'll be fine doing a bit of biology...)

(Notable quote: "then there's 'computer process control,' which is basically like controlling processes with computers." - duh...of course, what else)

I told her about how I wasn't quite *meshing* with my roommates and that living at Schäffer would give me a greater likelihood of finding people I'd like to be with (and actually being able to hang out with them), although it'd cost something like $200 extra to stay there. She said she'd consult with Dad about it and call me back in a few minutes.

About 5 minutes later she calls back, saying that my dad says YES! to the idea (exclamation mine, emphasis probably accurate):
  • I won't have to necessarily live/socialize with people I don't like if I don't want to
  • I can be better fed since if I don't feel like cooking I can just run downstairs to get a meal without worrying about doing that too often (besides I hate how most of the food places in HUB close at 6pm and aren't open on weekends)
  • Internet access doesn't require a phone line and getting ports opened isn't a huge difficulty (thanks [livejournal.com profile] forgottenlord!), plus it costs less per month than Telus
  • Since I don't need to get a land line, I can get a cell phone
  • With a cell phone my parents won't have as much trouble as they have had for the last few weeks trying to get a hold of me
  • Dad won't have to worry about moving a bed and desk along with all of my stuff (but we'll have to get a mini-fridge)
  • I'll have more space in my room
  • I won't have to share my washroom with ANYBODY (but I'll have to clean it all by myself)
  • I get to write a funny letter whenever I put down my address
So I've dashed off an email to the Housing about what I'd need to append to my application to get it transferred from East Campus office to Lister office.

In other news, I did a huge load of laundry, took out the paper and plastic and tin recycling, put my papers into those new binders I got at the dollar store on Friday, discovered the photo album I bought there was the wrong size (anyone want a 5x7 photo album, or will I have to start making paintings that size?), and otherwise avoided my roommates. I felt bad for Jung Bin (the new Korean girl) this morning since Dana and Lea put their morning music on quite loud (like they used to before Bin moved in) - I wonder if it woke her.
