Broken Dreams Year 1 - Act Two, Scene One
Jan. 10th, 2005 09:55 pmAlmost jumped out of bed at 7am. I was a little disappointed at my EN PH 131 (dynamics) class; Dr. Mohammed Last-Name-Is-Too-Complicated-To-Say makes me wonder if I'll be coming out at the end of the term speaking with an East Indian accent. Went over boring stuff like scalar vs. vector quantities (again?!!!) and the SI system (again?!!!)
We walked as fast as we could to MATH 101 (calculus), which was in the Dentistry/Pharmacy building, which, naturally, smells like a dental office. Ran up four flights of stairs, only to discover that the main stairs don't go to the fifth floor, so we looked for the elevator and took that up. Prof is apparently Vietnamese and sounds like the guy from Yan Can Cook. There is a set of stairs between the fifth floor and the fourth floor but it's out of the way from everywhere else. I think we'll be seeing people getting lost and getting to this class late all term.
I spent the hour break in the ESS office waiting for Kristy to come in so I could harass her over whether she needed me for Country Crusade. I saw boxes of shot glasses in the corner. Wonder when they'll put those in the store for us to buy. Kids coming in to buy CC tickets (~50 left). Now in: someone must have thought it was funny to order a box of pink engg paper. I bought a pad; I think it'll be nice to color-code my EN PH 131 work: homework on blue and seminar work on pink, or vice versa, I haven't decided. Labs and stuff start next week anyway. Ate a donut.
Went to Math 102 (linear algebra). I actually took notes. This is stuff I did in math IB but I've more or less forgotten. The homework doesn't look too bad, I can probably do half of it right now.
Checked ENGG 130 mark, which was posted inside the new CivE building (NREF), which is still under a bit of construction. B-, not bad. Had been expecting worse.
Went back to ESS. A bit of a crowd for tickets. The boxes of shot glasses are gone, I don't know where they went. Pink engg paper selling pretty quickly. As the crowd clears, Kristy shows up. I harass her. She says she probably won't need me, since I had asked her to only put me down as a last resort.
Worked on model tank. Turns out one of Rumi's friends broke one of my bowls over the holidays, that's why I couldn't find it. I'll have to shop for the 5 B's tomorrow: some new Bowls, Beef, Butter, Beer, and Bus tickets. Scott says my GPA should be a 2.4 right now. Was in mood to do the part of the linear algebra assignment that I know how to do, but getting in the mood has been difficult.
