Public Service Announcement
Oct. 3rd, 2004 12:31 pmPublic Service Announcement: Hong Kong shows a lot of public service announcements on TV. It's funny because you can get to either see them in Chinese with Chinese subtitles (for the Cantonese-impaired) on the Chinese-language stations, or in Chinese with English subtitles and texts translated into English (for the Chinese-impaired). I think the English subtitles are funny.
Link courtesy of BWG, this official government site has, gasp!, all of the public service announcements on Hong Kong TV! (Don't be fooled. Click the other links below the ones shown there for another page of them.)
This one on 'Thanks for keeping HK clean' is my favourite by far, because it came on so many times while I was there.
The littering one is okay too, although I'm almost positive I've seen a very very similar PSA on Japanese TV with just the pop can part, except that the dollar value is in Yen.
Now where's the one for escalator safety?
Watch them here (the subtitles are a bit small though, and some don't have English versions):
In Chinese or English with English subtitles | In Chinese with Chinese subtitles
(And if it keeps trying to tell you to download RealPlayer, click the 'English' button on the side, then select 56k or broadband to get it playing.)
