Rule number one -- How
not to draw a portrait of Antonuk: lifelike. Drawing her face perfectly the first try scared the bejeebers out of me, making me draw the rest one part at a time with a sheet of paper covering it -- so one side of the hair/chair back at a time without looking at the other.
Rule number two -- when suddenly there's a burning sensation near the tear ducts of your eyes, it's time to sleep, even if the sensation goes away after a little while.
Rule number three -- some people never really forget. Barend told me that the other day, when the Ant was passing out markslips, she still called out my name, nor laughed at her mistake of doing so. Still trying to rub it in to her class three months later or a genuine slip of memory? I could not command that to be resolved, and Barend could not say much more than that to me.
