Yes, I have the audacity to post videos of myself on YouTube.

Lordi - "Magistra Nocte"
I take it a bit too fast, methinks. Ah... old piece of junk piano at the university...

Dream Theater - "Wait For Sleep" piano part only
I don't get much time to practice (about 3 hours a month), so until I have my own piano/keyboard, this will probably be the best it'll be. It's significantly more difficult to play than the other two here... I'd sing it too, but it's *just* too low for a girl like me :)

Steven Cravis - "Through the Kaleidoscope"
I need a page-turner!!

NO WAI!! I thought I was totally the only person on the InterTubes to use this picture (which I took off some obscure site with pictures cropped for use as Baldur's Gate character pics). I'd love to know where the art is originally from, though.

Yeah, my (grand) piano at home actually has, like, action on the keys. Like I can actually control my dynamic and the sound through my touch. Yeah. I tend to slip up quite a bit on these school pianos because I can't use a light touch on them in the places that need it, and I had a much more 'feeling'-oriented (French-style?) training than my sister (she was trained by a Hungarian teacher, whose style was far more technical); i.e. I played far more Debussy and Chopin while my sister played more Bach and weird modern work like Schönberg. So being forced to play 'technically' is a challenge for me.

FYI, except for the Steven Cravis piece, all of the sheet music is my own transcriptipn (though I had some help with the DT one from some online sources).

I don't think it was that feeling at all, it's just the feeling of an old rickety piano that hasn't been ... worked on. Like the screws are loose, so the keys are too loose.

I have lots of little ideas for songs I try to arrange, but it's a very time-consuming process also much facilitated by having an actual keyboard beside me. I was working on this (http://www.ualberta.ca/~mmlau/temp/shrek.MID) last night when I couldn't sleep, but I took it to the piano today to try it out and it's a little fidgety still, with hand crossing and stuff.

Here's where I cropped mine from - without the text: http://www.megaone.com/phroxengold/iwd2/FR1.htm

I don't really know anything about other instruments so I mainly do stuff for piano. I can think a little bit for violin because my sister played it, but that's about it. Another reason for this is that the songs I want to arrange are often songs I wish I could cover with a band but I don't have a band so I have to find an alternative way that I can still perform the songs for fun.

I cannot imagine where I'd be today if I could play like that when I was your age (or even now). I never put in enough practice time at the piano.

(I wish my guitar player in my band was half as good as you)

Man oh man, it's too bad my home videos from my junior high years are still on VHS.

If THIS is good, I don't know what you'd say about then...

It wouldn't take you very long to "restore your chops" to your previous peak level. It took me 4 months to get my cello playing back to where it was when I was in high school, after a 20 year hiatus. (daily practice between 15 and 45 minutes/day, plus lessons.)

Weeeeelll.... competitive performance level with carpal tunnel syndrome and a flagrant dislike of the traditional approach to classical music....? I think I'll stick with learning to sing, thanks :)

(Besides, even if I had to do a keyboard solo in a song with a band, it's usually a short enough passage I can put extra effort into practicing.)

hallo hallo!

Great job on the piece....

I have a favour. Do you think I can borrow the music in the fall when we see each other again at choir?

How are you doing?
